Historic Edgefield

Historic Edgefield

Historic Edgefield extends from 5th Street to 10th Street between Woodland and Shelby. This onetime independent municipality boasted over 3,400 residents in 1869. Edgefield sponsors a tour of homes each spring, proudly showcasing the neighborhood's best restoration projects along with historic churches and a museum of neighborhood history.

A sundry mix of entrepreneurs, empty nesters, longtime residents and B&Bs create a dynamic neighborhood feel. Here you'll find the only sizeable concentration of Victorian residential architecture remaining in Davidson County. Along with the historic Warner Elementary School, an Edgefield house is reported to be the birthplace of Jesse James.
